“View and Wonder” is an exhibition that illustrates/interprets the places described in Jan Kaus’s book “View”. Each viewer creates their own interpretation, their own kind of view/place. The paintings depict moments that are both familiar and elusive. They are visual responses to the text—ways in which literature can become a place, experienced through color, light, and composition. The exhibition centers around the question of how literary space can expand into painting. How does literature speak in art, and how does art speak in literature?
