Andra Orn, curator of the Tallinn Vabaduse Gallery exhibition, describes Vello Vinna’s drawings as follows: “They address the complex relationships between humans, technology and the environment. Books and texts have been recurring motifs in Vinna’s work. In 2025, marking 500 years since the appearance of the first book in the Estonian language, special attention was given to Vinna’s 12-part series of large-scale drawings Book, created in 1996. In it, the artist unveils the different facets of words and symbols, playing with content, meaning and function alike.”
