Prima Vista charity project “A Book Writes the Person”
A longstanding tradition of the Prima Vista festival is the charity project A Book Writes the Person, which aims to highlight the role of reading and help enrich the reading lives of different groups in society. Our heartfelt thanks go to all the Estonian publishers who have supported us with their donations over the years! This year, we are collecting books for the residents of Maarja Küla Foundation. Maarja Küla is a community in southern Estonia where adults with intellectual disabilities live and are able to enjoy a fulfilling and meaningful daily life and working environment.
Residents of Maarja Küla Foundation are also warmly invited to a concert on 13 May at Tartu Public Library, featuring Duo Cätlin & Marko Mägi. The duo performs primarily Estonian folk music, weaving together archaic bagpipe and jaw harp tunes hundreds of years old with contemporary saxophone improvisations in a blend entirely their own.
The ceremonial handover of donations and the acknowledgement of participating publishers will take place on 12 May at the book fair on Tartu Town Hall Square.
