Artist Karel Koplimets resided at the observatory in 2023, engaged in conversations with the scientists working there and familiarised himself with the daily life in that scientific community. Influenced by his experiences on-site and the cosmic architecture of Tõravere, a site-specific spatial installation emerged, encompassing an entire telescope tower. The theme of the installation revolves around dystopian future scenarios in the light of climate change and surprising ways in which humanity strives to survive in complex conditions. Will the same socially accepted ethical rules and values apply in the future, and what is the role of the individual in protecting their planet?

Prima Vista Writer of the Day Urmas Vadi, who will perform at the opening, introduces his reading as follows: “While many people have their eyes set on the sky and the future, some only look down in front of them and see only their worn-out toes of shoes. As the first ones go to a party and journey into space, there are always others who are left behind, feeling disappointed, and create their community – the Village of Disappointed People. Urmas Vadi is the chronicler of this village, who has over the years made entries that he presents at the Tõravere Observatory.”
